The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for designing and programming a small module or a large component and designing a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. She/he will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business. She/he will Lead design discussion in a limited manner. **Job Description** **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:** o Responsible for GridOS Advanced Power Systems Application software implementation and successful delivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. The responsibilities include: working with Electric Utilities or ISOs (Independent System Operators) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) on functional software specifications, designing, application tuning and delivery. o Act as a member and leader in Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design and development practices. Implement new functionalities in power system application software which includes GridOS AEMS (Energy Management System), GridOS DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) GridOS WAMS (Wide Area Management System) applications. o Provide maintenance of power systems application functionality; including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces. o Collaborate with system/project engineers, frontend developers and GridOS AEMS application developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction. o Consults with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed. Responsible for writing GridOS AEMS EMS Functional Software Designs. o Provides input to technical lead on schedules and cost estimates. o Interfaces with customers on general and specific issues within area of functional expertise. o Provides marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers. o Mentors interns and junior staff. **JOB QUALIFICATIONS:** o Master's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Power Systems Engineering. o Minimum 8 years of working experience in production-grade software implementation and development in the domain of Electrical Power Systems. o Minimum 4 years of experience with C++, Java or other related language. o Minimum 4 years of experience with electric utility industry practices. o This is a hybrid position, requiring candidates to be in office 3 days a week at one of GEV's hubs. **JOB CHARACTERISTICS:** o Demonstrate deep domain knowledge and code development skills for basic power system algorithms, such as - Powerflow, Optimal Powerflow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, Small Signal Stability Analysis, Transient Stability Analysis, Voltage Stability Analysis, Automatic Generation Control etc. o Demonstrate skill in the use of one or more software languages such as C++, Python, and Matlab o Demonstrate skill in designing and developing software architecture o Demonstrate experience in data visualization o Demonstrate skill of deployment of software applications at Customer sites o Demonstrate awareness of presentation skills o Demonstrate skill of functioning in a team setting o Demonstrate awareness of how to succeed in ambiguous circumstances \#LI-ES1 **Additional Information** The salary range for this position is 125,600.00 - 157,000.00 - 188,400.00 USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
