SUPPORT OF COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
The Instructional Designer II position will facilitate the advancement of the College of Education’s mission of creating engaging, innovative, and non-traditional online instruction through maximizing the potential of learning management systems, synchronous and asynchronous learning tools, software, and hardware utilized for course and content development and implementation. This position will foster relationships with COE faculty and other design team members as they work with them to re-envision or adapt existing teaching content,  pedagogical design, or assist in designing new content for online learning. Additionally, this will require the position to collaborate with two-dimensional visual designers, instructional videographers and editors, animation specialists, remote subject matter experts, and teaching assistants. The Instructional Designer II will also review course materials and make research-based recommendations regarding quality and engaging learning experiences, effective assessment, online teaching practice, grammatical accuracy, and functionality of course components. This position will also provide technical support to both faculty and students by managing the technical infrastructure such as the course management system, synchronous and asynchronous systems, and any additional third-party tools that might assist the faculty. This position is time-limited.

SUPPORT OF ONGOING FUNDED PROJECTS

In addition to supporting College of Education efforts, this role leads the end-to-end design and production of short-form, high-impact learning assets for the Quality & Patient Safety initiative (QPSi) Academy and Knowledgebase. The Instructional Designer II partners with stakeholders and faculty subject matter experts to translate complex content into concise scripts, infographics, and micro-videos; manages cross-functional project plans and timelines; coordinates studio and animation workflows with video and graphics teams; ensures accessibility and brand alignment; and publishes finished assets to web/LMS. Success looks like on-time delivery, low-friction SME collaboration, and consistently excellent, clinically accurate media.

Develop targeted instructional design for funded research and contracts that utilize the most recent research in effective online instructional development and implementation. Knowledge of web-based, personalized learning design plays a vital role in development, as most of the externally funded research includes access issues. This role will employ a wide knowledge of applications that support learning.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Creating innovative instructional design and media production, including editing and co-creating with Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Managing both video and written learning assets by reviewing scripts, creating storyboards, and visual briefs.
• Additional duties include supporting and overseeing studio recording, animation, motion graphics, and iterative edits to completion and to the satisfaction of all parties.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

This role will develop and maintain a project management plan for all funded projects that includes milestones to completion. This role supports university faculty, external partners/clients, and other design team members as they work with them to re-envision or adapt existing teaching content, pedagogical design, or assist in designing new content for online learning. This role is a contact for the client on funded research project activity as it relates to instructional design. This role will work closely with the graphic design team, the video production team, and the application programmers.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Project management and stakeholder collaboration.
• Own project plans, milestones, and review cycles; communicate status/risks.
• Coordinate with external parties, including subject matter experts, administrators, and external project managers, as well as support internal video producers/editors, graphic designers, and web team at ETC to the client's satisfaction.
• Drive efficient feedback loops and secure explicit approvals for final delivery and archiving.

QUALITY ASSURANCE, BRANDING, AND ADA COMPLIANCE

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Maintaining high pedagogical standards using established national and UF guidelines, including Quality Matters and UF Quality.
• Apply Quality Assurance to educational materials
○ Ensure UF, COE or grant branding is established and consistent within educational materials.
○ Maintain WCAG/504 and 508 Compliance on all materials, including captioning of materials and creating accessible color palettes and font.
• Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all aspects of the course development process, including creating templates, establishing naming conventions, and tracking cycle time and revision rounds; iterate workflows to improve throughput and quality.

TECHNICAL WORKFLOWS AND PUBLISHING

• Manage Knowledgebase/LMS publishing across multiple platforms.
• Light web/LMS content management and analytics setup to monitor engagement
• Provide occasional faculty training on process, assets, and best practices

Promoting the mission of ETC

Assist in establishing, directing, and supervising programs that use and promote distance education initiatives in the College of Education. Promoting the ETC and the College of Education's mission across campus and within the greater higher education community.

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

• Presenting the work of ETC by promoting our work at conferences and pitch meetings.
• Provide training and webinars that support best online practices while also promoting ETC as a leader of quality online instruction.
• Participate in different committees and communities of practices, promoting our point of view and best practices to other universities, departments and work groups.
• Communicate frequently and effectively collaborate with various team members to ensure that goals and objectives are being fulfilled. Provide periodic reports on course development projects
• Provide advice and counsel to College administrators on the strategic, tactical and operational issues associated with online program efforts.
• Work with program faculty and administrators to assess the instructional effectiveness of course materials produced.

Will need to be available to meet with instructional staff on some nights and weekends.

This position is time limited.

Expected Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000

Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred:● 3+ years of instructional design experience producing micro-learning or media-rich online content for adult/professional learners.
● Proven ability to translate expert/clinical content into concise scripts and visual storyboards.
● Demonstrated project management across creative production (video, graphics, animation) with tight timelines and multiple stakeholders.
● Strong stakeholder communication; skilled at guiding SMEs via structured processes and actionable feedback.
● Working knowledge of accessibility (WCAG/Section 508), captioning workflows, and brand alignment.
● Proficiency with LMS/web publishing (e.g., Canvas), and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com/Trello).
● Experience in healthcare/CME or academic health settings; comfort adapting clinical content to plain language.
● Familiarity with animation and post-production workflows; ability to brief and review effectively.
● Ability to use AI tools responsibly to accelerate early drafts with strong human QA.
● Knowledge of micro-learning, case-based design.
● Detail oriented and focused on ensuring the best content for the learner.
