Job Summary

The Construction Site Manager (CSM) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required safety and quality standards. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, production teams, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial construction, a proactive approach to safety, and solid organizational and communication skills.

 

Job Description

  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish in coordination with project and production teams.
  • Manage daily site operations and coordinate activities with the Prime Contractor’s Site Superintendent.
  • Lead daily safety briefings and issue/maintain Hazardous Work Permits (HWP).
  • Review contractor Job Safety Analyses (JHA) and enforce safety compliance.
  • Ensure construction meets contractual and engineering standards, including QA/QC inspections.
  • Oversee testing processes such as non-destructive evaluation (NDE), hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests, dye penetrant, and radiographic testing.
  • Maintain inspection records and test documentation.
  • Identify, communicate, and track construction issues, delays, and potential risks.
  • Monitor material inventory and equipment needs; plan ahead to avoid shortages.
  • Maintain current scope of work (SoW) and construction documentation.
  • Conduct quality assurance and safety inspections throughout all phases of construction.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations including building codes and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to plan site-impacting work and ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are in place.
  • Respond to delays, emergencies, and unplanned disruptions efficiently.
  • Conduct Pre-Start-Up inspections and complete required checklists.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress to management.

 

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial construction; experience in oil & gas, manufacturing, or cryogenics is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical construction methods.
  • Familiarity with construction scheduling, technical drawings, and contracts.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA regulations (OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and workstreams with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving site issues in real time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • PPE to be used: Hard hat, safety-toed boots, safety glasses, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hearing protection, 4-gas monitor
  • Plant office and outdoor site work; work at heights up to 30 feet may be required using ladders
  • Must use personal vehicle on occasion

 

Education and Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
