Your Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.
This position ensures that all segments of school health services are performed in accordance with program descriptions and the school health plan through the direct supervision and maintenance of the goals, objective and all health services set forth in all school projects. This employee will report directly to the Nursing Director. Coordinate orientation of new school staff arranges in-services and staff development. Update’s school health plan and submits all annual report
Responsible for the direct supervision of school health staff which may include R.N., L.P.N., and Health Support Aides. Responsible for day-to-day scheduling and staffing, visiting schools on a regular basis to observe activities and counsel with staff to ensure that services are provided in accordance with policies and procedures.
Serves as liaison between school board, school personnel and health department staff as well as interagency collaboration as needed to improve the health status of students through health services and health instruction. Gives technical assistance on school health issues as required. Serve on appropriate committees that will enhance school health services and intercede for school health needs. Provide in-service training and workshops for school personnel, participating in teaching planning activities and community health projects. Meet and report to supervisor on a regular basis to give an update on activities in the school health program.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices and techniques. Knowledge of community resources. Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Florida
Preferred - Master's degree in Nursing, Public health, or a related field.
